Article 1 National Taiwan University (NTU or “the University”) Medical Library (“the Library”) formulates the NTU Medical Library General Rules (“the Rules”) to ensure the proper functioning of the Library and the maintenance of a fair environment and a tranquil atmosphere for patrons using the resources and equipment in the Library.
Article 2 Patrons are only permitted to enter the Library during opening hours, which will be announced separately by the Library. Patrons must present valid identification to gain entry into the Library:
1. Members of NTU:
1) Full-time faculty, staff, and students:
A valid NTU faculty/staff/student ID card issued by the University or a library access card issued by
the Library.
2) Non-full-time faculty and staff members:
A valid NTU-issued faculty/staff ID card, official letter, or a library access card issued by the Library.
3) Others:
a) Retired NTU faculty and staff members may enter the Library by presenting their retirement
certificate.
b) NTU alumni may enter the Library with an alumni ID card.
2. Visitors:
1) Non-NTU persons over the age of 18 may present a valid form of identification described herein to
obtain a temporary library card. University students under the age of 18 may present a valid
student ID card to gain access to the Library.
2) Valid forms of identification
a) Non-NTU persons may present their national ID card, driver’s license, NHI card with their
photograph, teaching certificate, or student ID card to obtain a temporary library card.
b) Foreigners may present their passport, ARC, or work permit to gain access to the Library.
Article 3 Identification presented to gain access to the Library must belong to the patrons themselves. Lending or transferring such identification to a third party is punishable under the NTU Library Regulations Governing the Handling of Patron Violations. Patrons shall treat their temporary library card with care and shall report a lost card to the Library’s Information Desk immediately. A fee of NT$200 is required to replace a lost card. The Library disclaims any responsibility for safeguarding the identification presented by patrons to gain access to the Library if it is not retrieved by the closing time on the same day.
Article 4 Patrons shall help keep the Library safe. Smoking and flammable objects are strictly prohibited throughout the Library.
Article 5 Visitors may not bring backpacks or any outside books into the Library but may store these items in a locker on the first floor; they shall take these items with them when they leave. Items stored in a locker shall be retrieved by the closing time on the same day. Patrons are advised to keep all valuables with them as the Library disclaims any liability for lost or damaged items.
Article 6 Patrons shall comply with the applicable loan and usage rules when they use venues, resources, equipment, and books located on any floor of the Library.
Article 7 To maintain a quality environment, patrons shall comply with all applicable rules and regulations of the Library. Violations are punishable under the NTU Library Regulations Governing the Handling of Patron Violations.
Article 8 The Rules shall be passed by the Downtown Campus Library Committee and then implemented upon promulgation.
